Animal models

 hitachi-animal-papercraft

Hitachi Japan have created some endangered species animal paper models. I thought I’d try their sea turtle model so I could give you a quick review.

The colours printed less vibrantly than shown on the website, although I accidentally printed it  onto cheap paper using my printer’s economy settings, so that’s probably why! The model only has 2 pieces (head and body) and printed onto 1 sheet of paper! Although the key is written in Japanese, you really don’t need instructions (and see my previous tutorial on this tyoe of paper model if you need more assistance). Cut around the solid lines, fold the dotted lines, glue the tabs - it was very straightforward and I’m impressed with the result of such a simple design:

So cute!

If you like animals, don’t forget to check out the other models in the series too.

Can I download these paper crafts for free? I would love to have my students do some of these for Art! Can you let me know more information about it?
Thanks!
Jana

Yes, Jana – all the projects we link to are free (unless we specifically mention that in our post) – so there should be no problem with you using them for your Art classes!

When I click on the link to the models, it is all in Japanese, which I don’t speak or read. Can you post a direct link to the paper models? Thank you!

Else, that was a direct link at the time I posted the above! It looks like Hitachi (and Konica Minolta!) have removed all their papercraft pages – what a disappointment! I have found the model designer’s website, but you have to pay a one-time $20 fee to access the models… There are a lot to choose from, though, so I’ll give you the link in case you’re interested: http://www.venus.dti.ne.jp/~kpd/member.html

I’m very disappointed to see the sites have removed their papercraft sections :( Sorry we can’t be of more help at this time.

Konica has moved it’s papercraft to:
