Guest Feature: Pop-up Origami Star

Today’s Folding Trees contributed tutorial comes to us all the way from Brazil! (If you would like to write for Folding Trees, see our Submissions page for details.)

Find out how to make Irene’s pop-up origami star with our tutorial:

To make the pop-up origami star, you’ll need 5 squares of origami paper.

Fold each square following this fold diagram:

Apply glue to the top surface of one of the 5 pieces. Position the second piece on top in the same orientation (the open end should always be at the bottom). Continue to apply glue to the top surface of each piece, and stack the next piece on top.

When all 5 pieces are stacked and stuck together, glue a ribbon to the bottom point (the open edge) of  the front and back:

Open out the card into a star shape:

Tie the two ribbons together to keep it open:

Author Bio:
My name is Irene Tanabe and I live in São Paulo, Brazil. I love to visit  Folding Trees every day. I’ve folded this card-star-surprise and I use it in my stories, because I’m a storyteller and I appreciated to include origami in the stories. So, I’ve created the Origamii blog about this with stories and origamis.

Thank you, Irene, for sharing your pop up origami!
